Comprehensive Equine Therapy is a concept, integrating Holistic therapies and modern technology.  It developed over time through the understanding,  that in most cases, a combination of different modalities is required to make an effective & timely difference in re-balancing the body & mind of our Equine athletes.  This awareness did lead to the continued expansion of my education and the practice of the modalities I offer today.

Available Therapy Modalities Explained

1. Cranio-Sacral therapy

Cranio Sacral Therapy  aids in the removal of energetic blockages within the Central Nervous system. It is a gentle, safe, yet powerful, hands on stimulation of the Central Nervous System. It addresses the membranes surrounding the brain and its articulations through the spine into the sacrum. The Cranio Sacral system.

.  Potential benefits of Cranio Sacral therapy are:

- structural alignment of the skeleton

- restoration of original, healthy biomechanics and re-setting of muscle memory (which allows Chiropractic adjustments to last)

- improved posture (might appear as improved conformation)

- release of archaeic trauma (emotional trauma stored in body tissue)

- deep relaxation

- relief from TMJ syndrome

How it works:

It addresses the membranes surrounding the brain and its articulations through the spine into the sacrum. The Cranio Sacral system.

- restoration of original, healthy biomechanics and re-setting of muscle memory (which allows Chiropractic adjustments to last)

- improved posture (might appear as improved conformation)

- release of archaic trauma (emotional trauma stored in body tissue)

- deep relaxation

- relief from TMJ syndrome

Important for CET’s concept: Cranio Sacral Therapy can also be an invaluable ‘scanning tool’. It can provide the basis for the use of additional CET-therapy modalities available. Your horse’s body reveals it’s neurological blockages, inflammation, muscle restrictions and hidden ‘hot spots’ to an experienced Cranio Sacral Practitioner during a Cranio Sacral session.

2. Skeletal Adjustments

Aside of my educational background in classic Chiropractic adjustments using the traditional high velocity & thrusting techniques, I specialize in skeletal adjustments using the 'Osteopathic Indirect Functional  Technique' also known by its founder's name as the Still-technique.

Indirect Functional Technique is a comfortable osteopathic manual therapy technique for decreasing pain and restoring function to spinal segments, pelvis, rib cage and limbs. It fits into the categories of indirect techniques because no barrier to motion is directly engaged such as with muscle energy technique or high velocity thrust technique. Instead, the barriers to free motion and normal biomechanics are identified but the joint is then taken in the opposite direction. It is from this 'position of ease' that the practitioner facilitates motion that is controlled by the body. It could be seen as a type of specific unwinding of a joint as the body moves farther into the direction of ease and then moves itself through the previous motion limitation. Motion is restored after the body or nervous system appears to 'learn' that it need not guard against motion in the previously limited directions. When this occurs, the body does not appear to waste energy guarding or protecting the joint or soft tissue and normal efficient motion returns.

3. Myofacial Release

Myofascial Release is a safe and effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue between muscle layers.  This connective tissue web acts as a shock absorber in your horse's body. Throughout physical training programs or certain injuries, stress or trauma can be too great for the horse's fascial system to handle and it becomes bound down, causing postural and gait deviations, loss of flexibility, and compression of pain sensitive structures in the body. When left untreated, fascial restrictions begin to tighten over time, pulling throughout the horse's body along this continuous web.

Fascial restriction has the capability of pulling 2,000 pounds per square inch of tension in one area. That is an enormous amount of tension to overcome and is the cause of many problems that limit the performance of the equine athlete, including poor collection, balance problems, lack of flexibility, lead change problems, behavioral issues, sore muscles, back pain, and tendon and ligament injuries. This is why Equine Myofascial Release is a whole body connective tissue approach that works very well with other alternative methods like chiropractic, acupuncture or Cranio Sacrl therapy. Free motion within these connective membranes/ free motion between muscle tissue is desiderate. Myofacial release has proven to be a valuable addition to CETs treatment options. Chinese Gua-Sha tools aid CET in the hands on application of this Therapy modality.

4. Laser Therapy

The main uses for cold laser therapy are tissue repair and relief from pain and inflammation. During this comfortable and painfree procedure, different wavelengths and outputs of low-level light are applied directly to a targeted area. The damaged cells respond with a physiological reaction that promotes regeneration. Superficial tissue (lacerations etc.) are commonly treated with wavelengths between 600 and 700 nanometers (nm). For deeper penetration, wavelengths between 780 and 950 nm are used.

CET uses a set of 3 different Vetro-Lasers for different purposes:

The Infrared Vetrolaser (Three 808nm diodes/300mW) (for deeper penetration)

The VetroRed Laser (Six 650nm Diodes/5mW  (for treatment of superficial tissue)

Single Wand Vetrolaser Laser ( ideal for Accupuncture points.

5. German Activo-Med PEMF /Massage/Lightwave – System

CET works with the German Activo-Med Professional Impulse Line.

A highly advanced PEMF/Massage/Lightwave system offering 18 different programs and 8 pre-set veterinary sequences, addressing a variety of imbalances throughout the equine body. The system also allows designing our own programs, altering the intensity, frequency and duration to suit a particular horse or condition.

Available program options include  Relaxation, Regeneration, Prevention, Vitalization and sequences addressing Clinical disorders of inner organs.

10 powerful massage modules in 5 lines (2 modules per line)

15 magnetic spools in the same 5 lines (3 spools per line) - including knee & shoulder spools

Integrated Light-wave therapy in certain programs

We will suggest the program/sequence most suitable for your horse
